Today, Kiefer with The Trailer Parts Outlet is going to walk us through how to measure the hub face and spring center on a 3.5k capacity trailer axle.

Why Do You Need to Know?

These measurements are critical when any axle gets ordered!

The video above is your best friend for figuring this out (especially if you’re the visual type who would rather be shown how than read about it.)

Let’s go over some terms you will need to know.

Hub face: the total length between one hub face and the other.

When you measure, you want to go from the outermost edge of one hub where the tire and the wheel will sit flat and flush.

Then you’re going to measure to the other side at the same points. Next, take a look at the spring centers. Measure from one of the spring seats and go to the bolt hole in the middle of the bolt hole.

Measure from the seat to the other side on the same place, and you’ll get the spring seat measurement.
