...i really should not talk this way. This thing has been here for years and hauled a 1400# SCCA race car...many enjoyable times.
The car is gone...and I have finished "Frank". This is a 'paddock bike'...400cc Suzuki and 250 Timberwolf. LIghts, brakes...lots of time. I redid the trailer and made the assumption that I would buy new tires last! Never did I imagine the right wheel would rust to the hub. Yep...it's a strange hub. I have tried that!
So...some thoughts please?
1.) I can lop off the existing spindle. This leaves a SUBSTANTIAL 4"x4" cross member. Hub to hub...as it is now...this is 70".
2.) Can I get away with a 2000 pound axle? The trailer is about 500#
3.) So...bolt the straight exle to the sub frame? That's it?
4.) I thought about springs...might actually be easier in the long run. Springs make this higher...thoughts on spring versus non spring? The trailer would sell with "Frank"...
One more thing...I am an old guy. So...throwing about a 3500# versus 2000# might matter. Yep...just me and the dogs...
