I ordered a 7000# tandem axle kit w electric brakes. I needed to upgrade a sailboat trailer with axles that were undersized and too worn out to safely go over the road. The kit arrived and was complete as advertised. I also ordered a matching spare. Took me several weeks in my pretty well equipped home shop to cut off the old springs and brackets and grind down the trailer frame to accept the new weld on leaf spring brackets. Once the brackets were welded on, reassembly went smoothly. I had custom axles and the measurements proved accurate. I am totally rewiring the trailer and the included wiring and breakaway kit will all be used.

Two cautions: the seven wire trailer cable included is only 14 gauge. All my research suggests 10 or 12 gauge wire for the electric brake circuit. I will run separate ground and brake wires in 10 gauge. They should update their wiring kit to address this. Also they should include an rv wire junction box to correctly feed all the power wires in and all the output wires out to their intended termini. These boxes are only about $10 online, but clean up the wiring a great deal.

My only other minor complaint is a complete lack of directions. I had to call or go online for info about trailer lug torque, wiring diagrams, alignment of axles for straight towing, and numerous other smaller concerns.

Overall I rate the kit a good value, and I am pleased with the results I got. This is not a kit for people without a good shop area, proper tools…
